Happy 46th Star Trek!
I’m not a Trekkie and I don’t play one on TV, but I did watch the original Star Trek show for the three years it aired. When Google came up with their signature Doodle I just had to share it with my fellow Baby Boomers in case you missed it. I’m fairly sure that most of you remember that wonderful campy show, and all of the spoofs, follow-up series, movies, and merchandise that was spawned from it. I was thirteen when it first aired 46 years ago. It was way cool to watch the show and dream about living on the Enterprise and being rescued by Captain Kirk from some un-earthling predators. I always loved when the transporter left crew members on an unknown planet encountering strange people, places and things. The series did not do well with ratings and was cancelled after just three years. I was pretty bummed because being a kid back then meant we had no clout to rescue the failing show (it seems we were the only ones watching along with engineering students). Oh well life went on and other shows became available and Star Trek slowly faded away only to be resurrected by a new generation. It was such fun while it lasted and it makes me smile when I remember several of those original episodes (there were 79) all those years ago. Keep healthy and fit by remembering the words of Mr. Spock “Live long and prosper”.
