Running For The Scenery

Forsyth Park in Savannah

Can you imagine training and running everyday with picture perfect views around you? Do you think that the landscape has an impact on your willingness to go outdoors and move? In the few days I was in Savannah I ran two mornings in 70-degree hot and humid weather (I didn’t mind at all). I must say my surroundings were a great motivation for my three-mile jaunts. What could have been more appealing that seeing Spanish moss flowing from the beautiful trees, or hearing the local birds, and viewing many other runners on my excursions? If you need a catalyst to help, just chose a place where you know it would be a pleasure to workout. My dear friend runs in her local park, another jogs at a nearby school track because of it’s rural setting which is surrounded by mountains. Search for walking or running clubs in your community (you’d be surprised how many there are), they typically chose beautiful and scenic areas to move about. If you need some assistance finding a group let me know I can help find one for you, or perhaps you can start up your own. Now is the great season to get outdoors and make the most of walking, jogging and running. A word to the wise with the impending heat of the summer upon us, it is best to run in the early morning or early evening when the sun is not at it’s highest and hottest in the sky. Keep healthy and fit by being persuaded by your habitat!
