A One-Night Stand Revisited
Last April I wrote a post about a lovely night I shared with some high school friends. I wanted to post it again because I had a similar evening (though not the food part) this past weekend with school friends from Ed’s past. Several of these friends were groomsmen in my wedding party so we reminisced, showed photos of days past and caught up with current events in our lives. It seems we all have much in common being Baby Boomers such as retirement, health, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Keep healthy and fit by finding a similar interest with others.

I’m guilty of a one-night stand. My affair occurred on this past Saturday, April 30th. It was a lovely spring night with flowering tulips, clean air, and was reminiscent of a day 41 years ago (my high school senior prom). My prom setting was a large banquet hall with much food (but no drink), great music, and sharing it with 43 amazing classmates and their dates. I could not tell you what we dined on that magical night, however, I can tell you what everyone was wearing (women always seem to recall that detail). The hall where we had our celebration was one of New Jersey’s premier eateries in 1970. Saturday night I had the wonderful pleasure to attend a micro mini high school reunion with 5 of my beautiful classmates. Unfortunately, we all turned out to be great cooks, which evoked my one-night stand with food. Memories of ravioli dinners, meatballs, buttered bread, and cream-filled cupcakes, swirled in my head and stomach. I flirted with my love affair at first, then went full throttle and had second helpings of each. I savored every bite and it wasn’t until I was lying in bed that night where the guilt enveloped me. However, the next morning it was business as usual and all I had were the memories of seeing old friends and sharing another magical evening together. So you see my one- night stand was just that, I recovered nicely and I’m back in the saddle again. Keep healthy and fit by having great memories of days past without the guilt!
