For The Love Of Mom
Here I was searching for a new volunteer position when there was an opportunity right in my own backyard. Sitting with your mom and bringing her a home-cooked meal once a week does not seem like much (after all it is your mother), however when you catch a glimpse of her face light up just as she sees you, and witness her scoffing down the food that you lovingly prepared for her, that in itself is all the confirmation you need to know your altruistic demonstrations are confirmed and well worth the 80 mile weekly round trip (regardless of well-known road rage in metropolitan traffic). Even though I am a good and safe driver my family perceives me as an angry motorist (believe me it’s only words and no actions). Why was I looking in my neighborhood for that humanitarian role, was it because I didn’t want to travel too far? I suppose I was being selfish and not assuming the role of the grateful daughter for the sacrifices that were made for me growing up. After all isn’t volunteerism about giving back? Shouldn’t we begin with family first? With Mother’s Day within reach, I hereby announce my new volunteer position of Ma-sitting every Tuesday and henceforth when I am beckoned to step-up and help out when needed. Therefore, it is with pleasure and love that I will accept my new occupation (besides how could you resist the smile of a 96-year old)! Keep healthy and fit by not straying too far from home ♡

That is a beautiful picture of your Mom. You are so lucky to have her with you and to be able to pamper her. Enjoy every minute of it.
