Our Very Own PCP

April 9th, 2012 | Inspirational

Are you or one of your siblings the Primary Care Provider to one or both of your parents? I am fortunate to have two of my siblings cohabitate with my 96-year old mother. Fran is the “Sergeant” as mom calls her, because she takes on the responsibility of caring for someone who cannot take care of them-self. She stepped up and assumed the role of mom’s Number One caregiver (and for this we owe her our lifelong love and consideration). Unfortunately, there are clashes from time to time and my mother will foolishly give Fran the silent treatment (although I’m not sure that is a bad thing for my sister). Fran works a part-time job as well as being the full-time family appointed cook; laundress, housekeeper, iron-er, medication manager, party planner, chauffeur, grocery shopper, baker, beautiful table setter, banker, and I could go on (but I will spare you all of the details). Anne is the back-up assistant when Fran has a chance to get away to visit her children and grandchildren who live out of town.

If you are the chief cook and bottle washer than I applaud you and your heroics! I’m not sure how Fran manages all of this and I know I am guilty of not thanking her for all she (and Anne) does. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do and what you mean to our family. It’s because of your caring, compassion, understanding and nothing rattles your scale of grossness attitude that I am in awe of along with your dedication and conviction. Applaud someone who does the same in your family or someone you know that is an unsung hero that works tirelessly and gives unconditional love to others! Keep healthy and fit always ♡

Amen- I couldn’t agree more, joanie. We are all very lucky to have both Fran and Anne live in the house with Mom and to take care of her so well. If they weren’t there, Mom would have to go into an assisted living facility. I believe John also deserves a lot of thanks for being there almost every weekend. Thanks to everyone. Bobby
