So Long For Now……
As a Baby Boomer and one that lived geographically close to Philadelphia I was inclined to be a viewer of American Bandstand (and also because my older siblings had control of the TV, so I suppose you would call that trickle down entertainment, ha ha). I couldn’t wait to watch this fantastic dance party show at 4:00 pm every day to imitate the dance moves, mimic the guests singing, even scoring my own opinion of Rate-a-Record. With all of these wonderful options I just couldn’t think of anyplace better to be than in front of my TV after school (and of course Saturdays starting in ’63). Thank you Dick Clark for being the cool guy (America’s oldest teenager) who had so much charisma and class to chat with some “real rockers” and still appear so hip and current all the time. Thank you for paving the way for my other favorite shows like “Shindig” and “Hullabaloo” I’ll miss seeing you on New Year’s Eve, but will always remember you when I see the ball drop from Times Square each year. Keep healthy and fit by dancing the mashed potato, the frug, and the watusi!

Joanie- so right – this is ingrained in our lives-etched in our brains forever. It is such an integral part of our lives. I was very upset when I heard he died. He was always so positive, so upbeat and I will never forget him. Thanks for the reminders.Bobby
I remember those days too….very well!
